Televisions have been around for more than 40 years. First it was the black and white televisions, then came the color TVs, and now high definition TVs. When they first came out everyone thought that it was going to bring families closer together but it actually did the opposite. Now more than ever families have centered their lives around these time consuming electronics. Some parents even use them as a way of dealing with their kids because as they know that as soon as the TV goes on the noise will go down. So I strongly aagree that televisions have inteferede with family life and have kept families from interacting in meaningful ways.
Familes were used to playing board games, talking to one another during parties. That was the past and television is the future. I remember being in mexico and waiting every year for my familys party to come beacause it was a time when all my family got to actully spend time with each other. Now that I am older and live in a country where most of the familes have at least two tv that’s all changed. when we have a party there is always something good on tv that we cant miss and the talking has to be posponed. I used to enjoy parties when we actully got to talk and play but know tv is the special guest at every party.
Dinner was all about family time. It was the time when families would sit together and ask each other how theire day was. Communication was at its peak beacsue everyone would and it was a time when parents would tell their kids how proud they are about them. Know tv is the main course in the dinner. It seems like without tv its not a family dinner. The sad thing is that beacsue of this no one asks each other how their day went beacsue they might interupt a great program that its on duaring family dinner time.
Parents have used television as a way of keeping their children entertained but what they are really doing is enjoying the time that they have with out time. Know more than ever kids spend most of their time sitting down in front of the tv just doing nothing but eating and watching programs that in some cases some are very bad to them. In other words tv has become the free babysitter that is always around the house just incase the mom I need help with her own kids. I view this very bad because at least you should spend time with your family and not let something like a tv be the main thing in their life.
Tv can be a helpful tool, you can learn many things just by looking at TVs. But I think that we forgot what the real reason for these electronics to be invented. They were suppose to bring a family closer together not spread them apart like how it is doing right know. Its not bad watching tv but we should do it in a way that we still spend most of the time doing productive things with our families not wasting time in front of a television.

  1. #1 I think your thesis is, television interfers with family life and keeps families from having meaningful interactions. #2 You cite a lot of personal experience on how the television has impacted you and your family. #3 you show some good critical thinking, and you connect a lot of point about how family is more important than a television is, and you have a lot of support for your ideas. #4 Yes you have counter claims #5 I don't think you need to address more ideas you have enough. #6 I think you counter claim is developed well. #7 I think it is good just expand on some points and develope a different idea in each paragraph.

  2. 1. Hi Rigo, your thesis is about televisions have interfered with family life. I would say that it is the last sentence in the first paragraph. The thesis is a little bit not stronger enough for audience. I think you should revise it to make it sound stronger
    2. You give really good examples about the time without TV and with the TV. You didn’t cite anything from the reading that I think might make your point stronger.
    3. You did give some critical thinking about how the TV influent our family time.
    4. I am not sure about the counter-claim here.
    5. I guess maybe you need to cite some quotes from the reading instead just using your voice only.
    6. N/A
    7. Your conclusion is good. Just a little of spelling checks and you are good to go.
